The Hounds Lead One Stat in 2012

By @SAdyson

We at the Steel Army are optimists. Having had a losing team for several seasons, we latch on to anything positive we can.

Not sure if this is a positive or a negative. Regardless, it is interesting.

Guess what team had 40% of the players in the top 8 in fouls:

2012 USL-PRO Fouls

There are several plausible explanations for this:

  1. The Hounds spent a good majority of last season in their own end, playing defense. The more time the other team spends in your end, the more likely you are to commit fouls.
  2. The Hounds tended to play more defensively-minded last season, which again lends itself to more fouls being committed.
  3. USL-PRO refs are scum.

The Hounds had a ton of PK’s given to opposing teams last season, which seems to line up with these stats.

Interpret these stats however you would like.

Not trying to start a conspiracy theory (USL-PRO refs do suck), but the boys need to give up less free kicks this season.
