Game 4 Recap: Head Meet Desk

bang_head_here

Over the course of a 30+ game season you’re going to have a few stinkers that are just frustrating to watch. Wednesday night was one of those. A 90 minute slog resulting in a notch in the L column. Outside of the early gimmie goal from our perspective the Hounds never seemed to click. In the first half we saw a little bit of the squad we’ve come to know over the first three games, but come the second half the 2016 Hounds decided to made an appearance. Maybe it was the change in the lineup (hello early season injury bug), or just something in the air. Who knows? As the game progressed we started to see a lot of long balls, crosses into the box going 10 yards too long, and way too many hopeful shots from outside the 18. When…

Know Your Enemy: St. Louis FC (2-0-1, 3rd in East)

The Hounds look to build on some momentum earned from the road win in Charleston when they host St. Louis FC tomorrow night at Highmark, looking to post a winning record for the first time in what feels like ages.

Saint Louis is looking good at 2-0-1 and are coming off back to back 3-2 home wins over NYRBII and Ottawa after drawing on the road in Louisville to open the season. Also, in doing some reading up on our opponents I discovered something that I probably should have known. Raise your hand if you knew Jose ‘friggin Angulo was on St. Louis, I didn’t and that’s probably bad on my part, but oh well. If you newer to the Hounds and the Army, Angulo led the line for the Hounds during the 2013 and part of the 2014 season, winning the USL golden boot…

Weekend Recap: If it looks like a duck…

After a high scoring affair the Hounds play turtle to a 1-1 draw.

Hulings Miss

When you watch soccer for years and years at some point you start to get a good sense of when a game is going to end in a draw. By half time I knew where this was going. The Hounds apparently took a look at the historic 6-5 victory the week prior and decided to do something about that 5. More often than not though, when you swing hard in the direction of defense your offense will suffer. St. Louis plays a pretty strong defensive game as evident by their 12 GA in 10 games. They also only have 12 GF, so they’re not exactly the most high flying offense out there either. Defense vs Defense made for 90 minutes of waiting for the other team to make a…

The Riverhounds have finally announced details on season tickets. The biggest news from the announcement is that a season ticket in the supporter’s section will also include a drink voucher for every game. One of the biggest complaints from last year’s season ticket holders is that there wasn’t any real incentive to purchase season tickets. There wasn’t a discount from single game tickets and there wasn’t any added benefit for season ticket holders. That has been changed this year and the early indication is that the drink vouchers will be the hot trading commodity at the tailgates.

New Riverhounds President, Richard Nightingale, sat down with Matt Gajtka from City of Champions Sports for a fairly wide ranging interview. A lot of interesting things he mentions in there, so we’d recommend you take a few…
