GAME 3 RECAP: Canadian Bacon

Riverhounds-Toronto-20180407

While the weather felt like we were in Toronto, that’s about the only thing the Canadian side brought it Highmark Stadium. It was clear from the get go which side was the professional team and which side was he glorified academy squad. Glad to see the kids got permission from their parents to cross the border.

Boy does it feel good to run up a score. This is the 6th time in the last 93 regular season games we’ve eclipsed 4 goals in a match, so not something that happens very often. The last time we left a game with a +4 GD was, maybe unsurprisingly, against TFC 2 at home on 4/25/15. As was pointed out in a couple pre-game notes, the Hounds have never lost to TFC2, and it doesn’t seem like that’s going to change anytime soon.

Speaking of never losing,…

On the ‘watching’ note, the days of live on the The YouTubes is at an end. Live streaming of matches will now be on ESPN+ for $5 a month. Anyone who though the league was dumping money into broadcast quality so they could keep giving it away for free were sadly mistaken. This does not change the agreement with Pittsburgh CW. Those matches scheduled for local television will still be there.

Unfortunately as has been the case many times this year they didn’t have anything to show for it, whiffing on a couple golden chances for good measure. And then the second half happened.

For whatever reason, maybe too much poutine in the locker room, the Hounds came out looking like crap for a good portion of the…

The Hounds have traveled back North in search of three points against a Toronto II side that has two hands wrapped firmly around the wooden spoon but with the unpredictability of roster adjustments as MLS in on an international break. The beloved will need to continue their dominance over the Canadian teams to stay in the thick of a congested Eastern Conference table.
