If you haven’t heard already, the Riverhounds have a new member of their ownership group.

Terrance “Tuffy” Shallenberger owns a construction company in Connellsville, PA that has piggy-backed off of the recent boom in “fracking” in the Marcellus Shale area. He also sits as a member at large on the board for the Connellsville Soccer Club.

Shallenberger’s son plays soccer, and in April of this year, Tuffy donated his time and work crew to finish a 114-acre sports complex in the Connellsville area. The complex was named the “Shallenberger Sports Complex” in honor of Tuffy and his contributions to soccer in the community.

Tuffy is also involved with the revitalization of the Connellsville area. He reached an agreement with the Connellsville City Council to acquire an old property in the heart of the town with the agreement that he will either demolish or restore the building.

Shallenberger Construction was one of four organizations to pledge $500 per goal in the 2-0 victory over Antigua to benefit the victims of the Oklahoma tornado.

On June 19th, the Connellsville Soccer Club had Ryan Hulings and Kevin Kerr visit the Shallenberger Sports Complex to run a camp for the club.

Looking back at his history, it makes a lot of sense for Tuffy to join the Hounds ownership group. He seems to be a proponent of soccer expanding in Western Pennsylvania. The Riverhounds will be able to expand into more markets through their youth academy, and Tuffy will now be a financial partner of the Riverhounds.

Welcome aboard, Tuffy.
