The Hounds have a quick chance to turn around and rebuild momentum and look to get back to winning ways when they travel to Harrisburg Wednesday night to play the City Islanders. Pittsburgh lost to Louisville Saturday night in a disappointing night at Highmark, where they boys just could not convert on their chances.

Harrisburg is 0-1-2 since being defeated at Highmark Stadium 1-0 late last month, losing to New York and drawing with Charleston and Richmond. Harrisburg sit 12th in the East currently and have not won in 5, important for the Hounds to not let them gain any confidence early. A win for Pittsburgh in this game would already clinch the Keystone Derby Cup only a third of the way through the season, something that has been settled on the last day of the season in the trophy’s first two seasons.

Know Your Enemy: Louisville City FC (3-3-1, 4th in East)

louisvilleThe Hounds return home this Saturday to host Louisville City FC coming off three straight wins in the league and an unfortunate loss in the US Open Cup. Let’s focus on the positive though; the boys are 3rd in the East and climbing up the table.

Pittsburgh fielded a somewhat reserve team in the loss to Chicago United FC on Wednesday, but brought in regulars throughout as subs. Wednesday night also a full 90 minutes for Romeo Parkes, who assisted Kay Banjo on the lone Hounds goal.

Louisville City have been in Pittsburgh since Wednesday, playing their second round US Open match at Highmark Stadium against the Tartan Devils, handing them a tough 9-0 romping. I unfortunately didn’t make it on Wednesday night as I had to work, but fair play to the support, I heard it was great despite the result.

In the league,…

Know Your Enemy: Ottawa (1-2-3, 14th in East)

Well its finally here, the Ottawa vs. Pittsburgh matchup that everyone has been talking about, the Eastern Conference Finals….oh wait, what..whoops. Well as the Pens get ready to host Ottawa on Saturday, the Hounds will be heading north looking to make three wins on the spin as they face the Fury for the first time in the two teams history.

Ottawa joined the USL from the slowly dying NASL this season and are having a bit of a rough go in their first season in the league. The Fury are off to a 1-2-3 start, earning half their points on draws and getting their only victory at Richmond, a game in which they scored on the counter and held on for a 1-0 win despite being pressured constantly.

Ottawa is coming off three straight draws, two of them being scoreless, so they are…

Know Your Enemy: Toronto (1-2-3, 13th in East)

Image result for Toronto FC II

Hounds look to get two quick home wins in a row when they host Toronto FC II tomorrow night for the USL Game of the Week, this comes just days after beating Harrisburg 1-0.

Toronto is 1-2-3 after three straight scoreless draws against Rochester, Ottawa and Louisville City.  The lone win of the season for Toronto was in the opening week of the season against Phoenix 1-0.

Just like some of the Hounds recent opponents, Toronto is having a hard time finding the back of the net, only scoring two goals through six games.

One of the goal scorers was Malik Johnson, who has had some success scoring against Pittsburgh in the past.  Though TFC II has not been scoring, they have also not been conceding goals, with three clean sheets in a row, two on the road.

Speaking of, this is Toronto’s third road match…
