Game 8 Recap: Won a Game, Lost a Coach

What a whirlwind couple of days huh? In less than twenty-four hours the Hounds won their first game of the season, parted ways with coach Steffens, and announced coach Brandt as his successor. I spent a good chunk of Sunday just processing it all. This is going to be a long one, there’s a lot to talk about. With the coaching change the win over Toronto FC II got kind of lost, so let’s talk about that first.

We’ve finally won a game! Boy does that feel good. Sure makes the rainy weather bearable. It was another exciting match between these two teams. The Hounds came out a little slow to start. While Toronto didn’t have many opportunities they did dominate possession early on. After a while the Hounds found their legs and really turned up the pressure. The started to control the…

Know Your Enemy: Toronto FC II

Toronto FC II

Opponent: Toronto FC II
Record: (1-0-1)
Supporters: Not Really

The Hounds look to shake off the rust as the travel up north on Sunday to face to their first MLS reserve side of the season. The Hounds are the only team in the USL to only play one match due to the postponement of last week’s home game against Harrisburg. A positive result in Canada would be very much needed. To be honest I was not looking forward to delving in to my first KYE of a “2” team, something about them and the other reserve sides in the league just feels a little off.

So abooot those neighbors to the north, TFC2 are 1-0-1 after beating their fellow Canadian friends Montreal Impact “deux”. Some of you may have seen the game winning goal of that game by young forward, Raheem…

GAME 1 RECAP: Rochester Does What Rochester Does Best

Well that sucked in about every way possible. If you’re ever placing bets on Rochester, always take a 1-0 final. Rochester executed a pretty flawless Rochester style game. The got a goal on a break, and then sucked the soul out of everyone and everything for the remainder of the match. Some folks over on DKonPittsburghSports.com liken them to the New Jersey Devils. I can’t think of any more apt comparison.

The big question going into this game, and still afterwards, is who is going to score? The second half of the preseason the team found themselves in a scoring drought, and it’s continued into the regular season. Kerr sure tried, but teams know to focus on him now. Moloto and Hertzog were hyped coming into the…

Weekend Recap: They did it!

Hounds hang on for a 2-1 win in Harrisburg.

Four minutes of stoppage time felt like four hours. Harrisburg threw everything and the kitchen sink at the Hounds to no avail. The Hounds bent but for once they didn’t break. What was essentially playoff game zero was tense through out but the sweet sweet victory made it all worth it. It’s been a while since we’ve been able to celebrate on the way home from a road win. As you’ve seen on our social media accounts, we definitely made the most of it.

Game wise the Hounds looked pretty good for the first 70 minutes or so. I thought they controlled the first half and had several good chances besides the two goals. Moloto’s goal was a great scrappy team effort to not give up on the ball…
