We have endured season after season of the Hounds, for lack of a better term, sucking balls.
The Riverhounds that took the pitch yesterday against the Kickers were not the Riverhounds of old.
The Hounds controlled possession, harassed the Kickers in the midfield, and had numerous chances in the Kickers’ zone. The offensive spark that the Hounds have been missing for seasons was on full display with the new additions to the roster, including Motagalvan, Marshall, Kinne, Seamon, and Arteaga.
The Hounds brought a point back to Pittsburgh in a hostile environment. Now we need them to build on that success for the day of days on April 13th.
FIRST HALF
16′ The announcers on the (crappy) UNATION feed note that the Hounds have been controlling possession about 60/40 during the game
34′ Hounds squander a corner kick opportunity in the Kickers’ end
39′ Set piece by Kinne deflected wide of the goal
41′ Andrew Marshall borderline choke-slammed Jason Yeisley (an old Riverhound) in the middle of the pitch
45′ Marshall slides and quickly dispatches a Kickers’ chance in the Hounds’ penalty area
1 minute of stoppage time added
SECOND HALF
48′ Flunder makes a break from right back and has a brilliant low shot that is saved by the Kickers’ goalie
58′ Richmond has a set piece near the Hounds’ goal, but pikes it like a 4th grader over the net
63′ Kinne takes a direct kick near the Kickers’ goal and HITS THE CROSSBAR
65′ Darren Amoo comes in for Alfonso Motagalvan, Lundberg comes in for Michael Seamon, and some joke Richmond player gets subbed off
71′ Marshall lays down his body and blocks a shot inside the Hounds’ penalty area
78′ Kinne with another rocket on a direct kick, but it’s saved by the Kickers’ goalie
80′ THE FEED GOES OUT, completely unacceptable even if it is your first time broadcasting a USL PRO match…weiners
90′ Kinne has a chance to bury a goal, but shoots it wide right
1 minute of stoppage time
NOTES:
- This Riverhounds team looks COMPLETELY different than anything else we have seen in recent team history. The defense bends but doesn’t break, the midfield controls possession, and the forwards generate multiple scoring opportunities.
- Ryan Kinne was ALL OVER THE PITCH. His speed is unreal, and we haven’t had a player that can take quality direct kicks in quite some time.
- Andrew Marshall was LIGHTS OUT on defense. Not only did he lay out Yeisley, but he was blocking shots left and right inside the Hounds’ penalty area. Solid addition by the Hounds in the offseason.
