Apparently, the July 19th match against Wigan Athletic will not be the end of international friendlies at the Highmark.
According to the Riverhounds, Frank B. Fuhrer — a previous owner of the Pittsburgh Spirit indoor soccer team and a previous member of the ownership of the Pirates — reached out to the club to support bringing an international club to the Highmark ever year.
The event will be known as the Frank B. Fuhrer International Friendly and will (hopefully) occur every year at the Highmark.
This is not the first Pittsburgh sporting event Fuhrer has backed. Fuhrer’s name is also associated with a golf tournament in Fox Chapel.
The Hounds are gaining more and more partners this summer, in large part because of the success the Hounds have had at Highmark Stadium so far this summer.
