HC Justin Evans joined Mike Grau on TribLive Radio to talk about the upcoming season.

• There was nothing really new about the interview. Evans confirmed the six recent player re-signings. It seems as though Blum’s “Monongahela Monster” nickname has stuck.
• He said something about “…Mike Green in the back” during the interview. Yikes. Mike Green was fantastic in midfield when the Hounds first brought him aboard. It would be a shame to see him at wing back again this year.
• Evans indicated that at least 2 Houston players will be loaned to the Hounds this season. He seemed to be almost certain of their identities. Likely candidates would be any of the three players the Dynamo just drafted–D A.J. Cochran, F Mark Sherrod, or GK Michael Lisch. In terms of immediate need, Cochran–at 6’3″–would compliment Andrew Marshall’s grittiness at CB quite well.
• You can tell Evans is genuinely excited for the opportunity to have the team together in February to train and build chemistry. The trip to Houston is sure to pay dividends come opening day.
• This looks to be one of the most competitive rosters the Hounds have fielded to date. Expect competition to dictate the starting XI on March 29th.
