The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that European clubs Manchester City and AC Milan are likely to play a match at Heinz Field on July 27 as part of the International Champions Cup.
This July 27th match would be the biggest non-Riverhounds soccer event in Pittsburgh since 2004, when Chelsea defeated AS Roma 3-0 at Heinz Field.
Of course, the Hounds squared off against the previous FA Champs Wigan Athletic last summer in a friendly — and they will be sure to face another international squad this summer.
With the 2014 World Cup, the potential Man City/AC Milan match, and another Frank B. Fuhrer International Friendly at the Highmark, this summer has the potential to be a huge one for soccer in the ‘Burgh.
