Because the red card issued to Collins John at the end of the 4/12 match against Wilmington was for “violent conduct,” Collins John has been suspended for three games.
Looking back on the replay of the game on YouTube, we cannot find anything in the game footage that shows why John was given an immediate red.
According to the USSF “Advice to Referees on the Laws of the Game:”
12.34 VIOLENT CONDUCT
It is violent conduct when a player (or substitute) is guilty of aggression towards an opponent (when
they are not contesting for the ball) or towards any other person (a teammate, the referee, an assistant
referee, a spectator, etc.).
We are assuming this is in relation to the referee. Neither during the game nor on the feed did we see John physically threaten the referee in any way.
Even if John was verbally thrashing the referee, a caution for dissent would have been an effective way to end the game if it was a problem.
We have nothing more to say on this. In 2 out of the 3 games the Hounds have played in so far this season, the officiating has royally screwed the team.
