Join us every Monday through out the season as we post a small recap of the past week’s USL action.
New York Red Bulls Reserves: 1
Charleston Battery: 1
- A sloppy, rainy game
- Traditionally solid Charleston is quietly having a bad start to the season by going 0-1-3 in the first four games.
- Things got heated shortly after Charleston scored the equalizing goal. 3 Yellows and 2 reds in the span of 10 minutes.
Pittsburgh Riverhounds: 2
Richmond Kickers: 2
Dayton Dutch Lions: 1
Harrisburg City Islanders: 0
- Dayton was the only team to protect their lead this week.
- Dayton quietly sneaked into 4th place going 2-1-1 and only allowing one goal since the 3-0 drubbing in their first match against NYRB Reserves. Is this the beginning of a defensive power house or just a lucky schedule? Time will tell.
Sacramento Republic FC: 1
Arizona United SC: 2
- Sacramento is caught looking towards their home opener next weekend and gives up the game winning goal in the 85th minute
- Although to be fair to Sacramento they were playing a man down the entire second half
- Arizona United gets their first win of the season. It’s still too early to tell what kind of team they will be as they’ve only played 2 games so far
Orange County Blues FC: 1
LA Galaxy II: 3
- The LA Galaxy II finish their 5 game opening home stretch with a win, going 3-1-1
- It’ll be interesting to see how well they fair on the road
- LA Galaxy II lead the league in goals for, but are also second in the league in goals against. Much like the Hounds LA Galaxy II games are all offense
- The OC Blues made the classic mistake of scoring too early with a goal in the 9th minute
LA Galaxy II and Orlando City extend their lead by taking advantage of a favorable early schedule. The rest of the table is still fairly compact. A win and a loss by almost any team can still shake it up.
Note: Our table may not accurately reflect tie breaker scenarios, though I will do my best. When in doubt refer to the official USL table.
