With USLPro expanding from 14 to, at least, 22 teams and two other franchises relocating and starting new identities, we figured we could kill some of the off-season boredom by letting you get to know the new competition. “Meet the New Teams” will run, roughly, every other week leading up to March 2015.

I kinda wish I wasn’t so internally committed to doing these previews in alphabetical order. Despite being one of the first new teams to announce their intent to start USLPro play in 2015, they haven’t really said too much. The club officially was award a franchise in December 2013. This was historic in that the announcement did not include any reference, directly or implied, to an MLS pipe dream. Stunner.

Since then, the team announced its name, crest, head coach (novel idea), and first player signing. Beyond that, they haven’t done anything to really applaud or mock…

If you would have told me this was an Onion article making satire of the concept of everything having deep meaning in design, I wouldn’t have doubted you. Yet, it is real, and its spectacular.

Have fun, Switchbacks fans. Go crazy. I have a feeling this is going to be a very “Don’t bother us. We won’t bother you.” type of relationship. Besides, we don’t want to mess with those sunbeams emitting from you. We aren’t really morning people.
