When Charlie Murphy blows the whistle to commence proceedings of tonight’s game, it will be 72 hours since Charlie Murphy blew the whistle to commence US Open Cup proceedings between the Riverhounds and DC United. The team has had 72 hours to let that amazing night get past them and focus back on league business. How well the team is able to focus on the task at hand should be the only question as to the outcome of tonight’s match.
The Riverhounds are facing a team with five points total and zero wins away from home. If there was ever an (apparent) good night to have your captain, Danny Earls, serve a suspension, tonight is that night. With all that said…
This team has to come out looking to play FC Montreal like they played DC United. Playing in hot and humid conditions in South Carolina last weekend can’t be an excuse. Playing a passionate 120 minutes against an MLS side on Wednesday can’t be an excuse. Pittsburgh is a better side all over the field and they need to go out and prove it.
The other people with something to prove? The Steel Army.
Let’s show that effort we put out there on Wednesday isn’t limited to marquee match-ups. Let’s bring that every week. I know Montreal sandwiched between DC United and a Rochester road trip isn’t exactly the flashiest of Saturday evenings, but these are points Pittsburgh has to collect if they would like to play more than 28 leagues matches this season. We need to do our part to help the guys on the field do their job.

Festivities kick off at 4pm for the 7pm match. Not sure if they will check, but be prepared to show a game ticket to park in case they are checking due to the Stones’ concert.
