Sports can be mean. Just when you think most everything has been figured out and you can take a breather, sports decides to be mean.
FC Montreal 4:2 Pittsburgh Riverhounds
With that result and the three points that stayed in Quebec, the Hounds wake up this morning with a HUGE game against expansion-ish side Louisville City FC.
For the Hounds, it’s got to be about putting last Sunday behind them and focusing on doing all the fundamentally sound things that brought success against New York and Toronto. They’ve had a full week to prepare and re-focus the energy. They’ll have another full house of people (many of which will be attending their first game, thanks to Meghan and Dejan) to try and impress and show why they are worth seeing many times a season.
Another thing to watch is that both Anthony Arena and Kevin Kerr are sitting on four cautions. It’s not a question of if they receive a fifth, it’s a question of when and will they happen in the same game. Having both players serve a suspension on the same day would be less-than-ideal.
For Louisville, it’s about becoming comfortable playing on the road. The team has only one USL win on the road and will be walking into Highmark, where the Hounds have only lost one league match.
TAILGATE
The tailgate kicks off at 4pm for the 7pm match. There will be a lot of first timers down around Highmark today. Be inviting. DK’s Lunatic Bash will be bringing in a lot of people, even some who aren’t fans of the sport. Be an ambassador for the team, the Army, and Highmark Stadium. The Meghan Klingenberg appearance will also be brining some new faces to the game. Welcome them in, as well.
