Weekend Recap: YES! YES! YES!

Dadadadadadada ROBBIE VINCENT!

And that’s how you end a slump! After looking really shaky the last few weeks the Hounds return home and put their foot down against the Wilmington Hammerheads. Rob Vincent continues being the best thing since sliced bread and gets his first professional hat trick. You can probably still smell the smoke in Highmark Stadium. Hat tricks aren’t very common in soccer so anytime you get to see one it’s a fun night. I don’t know what else to say about his season this year, other than it would be pretty awesome to have the golden boot winner and leave MVP twice in three seasons.

Even though the Hounds picked up a couple loanees, and having Thompson back, they rolled with what has become a pretty standard line up sans Arena. For the most part they looked pretty good though there were stretches that Wilmington looks very dangerous. Fortunately Wilmington, who is usually one of those teams who always has the Hounds number, is terrible this season. A better team might have made the Hounds pay. Fortunately for us Wilmington was exactly what the doctor ordered for the Hounds. The Hounds patched up some holes and got the confidence boost a home win will bring you. If they keep it up next week against another bad team in Toronto II the ship should be full righted for the final stretch of tough match ups.

It would be neglectful for me to not mention the man, the myth, the legend Paul Child. We’re really happy that the Paul Child Stand has finally come to fruition and that we can, in our own way, honor someone who has done a lot for soccer in Pittsburgh through out the years. Congrats Paul! We promise to keep your namesake rock’n.

Now that the Paul Child Stand is checked off our long term goal list, how about making it a standing only section?

Notes

  • The Hounds received two guys on loan from Orlando City in the last week or so, but neither were to be found in the roster on Saturday. A little odd.
  • Dallman seemed to be wincing towards the end but played through it for a full 90. Even if it’s not 100% he’s a good asset to have back.
  • I feel like Hunt takes a lot of shots to the head. Sure hope that noggin is doing ok.
  • Pasher’s back!
  • I think that was Brown’s first professional yellow card.
  • Speaking of fouls the Hounds have one of the lowest totals in the league this season which is a nice change of pace. The boys are playing disciplined this year.
  • Some great new decorations in the sports bar. If only there were some scarfs…

On the road again this week. Abbreviated recap.
