To our Pittsburgh Riverhounds,
We love ya, but we need to talk. It’s been another tough start to a season, and Army morale is low. Your most loyal fans are feeling down and have some questions. We’ve been hearing all the rumors, but it’s time we came to you in the front office and asked for real answers.
How are we choosing the players for our team? What is the criteria for choosing our starting 11?
Why wasn’t Danny Earls brought back in 2016, after two years as team captain?
Who has final authority on which players are or are not offered contracts? Is anyone else involved in this decision making process?
Mark Steffens coached a Charlotte Eagles team that had mission statement beyond just fielding a successful professional soccer team. Has Coach Steffens brought some of those philosophies and criteria with him to Pittsburgh?
Tuffy is our interim team president. How is the search for a full time president progressing?
Why exactly did Richard Nightingale leave? Is there any plan to replace him with someone knowledgeable about soccer?
Why aren’t we reaching out to the Pittsburgh soccer community? Where is our presence with local universities? When is the stadium going to start hosting US Soccer watch parties?
We all here want to see the team succeed, and we need to know the front office is in this as well. We need to know that we are choosing our team based on their talent and not their lifestyle. We want to win the league, and we need to know you want it as well.
Let’s put more goals on the scoreboard. The Steel Army is ready, smoke in hand.
