Know Your Enemy: Harrisburg
Record: 4-11-1 (11th in East)
We all know how important Monday’s game is in taking the first step to retain the Keystone Cup and begin to build some momentum as the games will start to come fast in July. Dan’s earlier piece on the pride and passion that goes in to these matches really says it all when it comes to Harrisburg.
So how are the City Islanders doing in comparison with the Hounds, well not good. They are sitting near the bottom of the East, in 11th place with 13 points from 4 wins. City’s high point was on May 24th when they beat Toronto at home to improve to 4-5-1, since then they have lost 6 straight and are certainly ripe for the picking. Unfortunately I have written that phrase too many times this season and many times a struggling team has taking 3 points of the Hounds.
What has led to the six straight loses for City, well Id say a lack of defending would be a good place to start. The Islanders have conceded at least 3 goals in the last 6 games during this losing streak.
Harrisburg split their home games between two minor league baseball fields, Clipper Magazine Stadium and FNB Field. Clipper Magazine is in Lancaster as the team is trying to grow its reach throughout Central Pennsylvania. Part of me will miss the old shithole that was Harrisburg Sports Complex or whatever it was, but I dot think it was quite up to league standards.
The goofy home stadium situation has led to a weird schedule all together, City have had a run of four straight away games during the current six game losing streak.
Hopefully we take this losing streak to seven for the City boys and get reacquainted with our grid friend Mark “no balls” Noble. Happy 4th
