Know Your Enemy Reloaded: Louisville City (6-1-4, 3rd in East)

louisville

Louisville City came into the May 20th meeting at Highmark Stadium leading the Hounds by one point in the upper tier of the Eastern Conference standings and was facing a Hounds team that was coming off three wins on the spin. As we know, Louisville won that encounter 1-0 in a frustrating familiar night on the Mon and the match that night has set the two teams on very different tracks since.  Louisville is unbeaten in the last month, beating Charlotte and the Red Bulls while drawing 4-4 in a wild match in Charleston.

Meanwhile the Hounds have done the exact opposite, drawing twice on the road and losing another frustrating match at home to Orlando City. Pittsburgh is now set to travel to Louisville for a tough road match on Saturday against third place City, who is 6-1-4.

George Davis IV continues to lead the line for Louisville, leading the team with 4 goals, while former Hound Brian Ownby is the real difference maker on the team. He has three goals and two assists and had the helper on the lone goal in the win at Pittsburgh last month.

Ownby also had a late goal in the 4-4 draw at Charleston, a game that saw the Battery have leads of 3-1 and 4-2. Ownby score in the 79th minute to make it 4-3 before a Charleston own goal tied the match at 4.

The one blip on the City radar was losing to FC Cincinnati on the road in the US Open Cup 1-0, a match that set the Open Cup attendance record I believe.

So Louisville really is flying coming in to this match and should have a decent home crowd behind them Saturday night, this will be a tough test to get anything out of. The Hounds though have had success in Louisville, so there is some hope for good result.

A side note, there is a tifo painting tomorrow at 4PM, I unfortunately will be working as it appears everyone left the tv station for vacation now that the Pens are done except me, hurrumph..

3 points tomorrow
