Enemy Update: Louisville City (1st in East)

The Riverhounds welcome Eastern Conference table topping Louisville City tomorrow night at Highmark Stadium with a chance to vault themselves as high as 6th in the East with a win.

Louisville really is coming in to Pittsburgh on fire, winning four of their last five with two of those wins being 5-0 thrashings of Cincy and Harrisburg and a win over Charleston.

The two teams have faced each other twice this season, Louisville winning both affairs. The 1-0 LCFC win in Pittsburgh in May ended the Hounds early season hot streak and the 3-0 thrashing in June in Louisville might have been one of the low points of the 2017 Riverhounds campaign, putting the cap on a five game winless stretch.

Louisville’s scoring is spread out amongst a group of eight players with at least three goals, with Luke Spencer leading the team with eight…

Game 26 Recap: Road Draw

The Hounds continued their good run of form over the weekend by heading down to Cincinnati and snagging a point. No small feat considering Cincinnati has proved to be a tough place to play since coming into the league, and for us in particular they seem to have our number. The Hounds may still be looking for a win against Cincinnati, but they didn’t let them trip up our streak to the finish line.

The Hounds came out hungry to start the game and were rewarded with an early goal from Hertzog. The re-emergence of Hertzog continues to be the catalyst for the Hounds offense down the stretch. 4 goals in the last 3 games from him alone. I’m not sure if anyone else in the league is as hot has he is right now. Hertzog can’t stop, won’t stop. It’s the…

Enemy Update: Cincy

The Hounds travel to Cincinnati this Saturday afternoon in a pivotal
Eastern Conference playoff match, with Pittsburgh trailing Cincy
by one point in the standings.

Cincinnati is coming off a 3-1 win over Ottawa on August 23rd to break
a four game winless streak. Before the win Cincy had suffered back to
back big losses to NYRBII 4-0 and Louisville City 5-0 respectively.

Cincinnati’s inconsistent form throughout the season somewhat mirrors
the Hounds in that both teams have not been able to find solid ground
and make a run to the top of the standings.

Cincinnati though, did make a very deep US Open Cup, going all the
way to the semi-finals before losing to New York Red Bulls 3-2 in
extra time. The loss was especially heartbreaking for Cincy
considering they had a 2-0 lead deep in the second half and the game…
