We all knew that Saturday’s match against the Charleston Battery was going to be a tough one.
The Battery are the 2012 defending USL PRO champs, and came into the Highmark to steal 3 points from the Hounds. In front of a crowd of 3,400+, however, the Hounds–more times than not–outplayed the visitors and put pressure on their side of the field.
The Battery drew blood first, but the goal machine in Jose Angulo was able to equalize late and give the home crowd something to cheer for.
The score does not reflect it, but this was one of the best games the Hounds have played all season. The team chemistry is downright nasty at times, and it is clear that the players are becoming more and more confident, riding an 8-game undefeated streak since April.

The Hounds are currently showing a 7 OUT OF 10 on the #JUICED meter!
NOTES:
- There is undeniable chemistry developing between Matt Dallman and Kevin Kerr on the right side of the midfield. Dallman of course leads USL PRO in assists, but Kevin Kerr is helping to orchestrate a lot of the chances that are being finished by the forwards.
- Jose Angulo was a late addition to the Riverhounds’ roster, but his addition has been one of the key offseason signings by the front office. He has accounted for more than half of the Riverhounds’ goals this season, and is the finisher the team has lacked for several seasons. He humbly goes out every match and gives everything he has, and couldn’t fit in any better with the rest of the team.
- Mike Green has been seeing some consistent action on defense the past few games in the starting XI. Traditionally a midfielder, Green has been playing a pivotal role on a defense that has only allowed 1.08 goals per game so far this season. If the Hounds can generate just a little more offense, they look to be in prime shape to make a playoff push at the end of the season.
