With a win, any win, on their record, the Hounds must look to overcome last week’s disappointing loss to Orlando City and begin the climb from the USLPro cellar. To do that, they must climb over the Rochester Rhinos, who have been somewhat of a surprise in the first quarter of the season.

Justin Evans’ may have some options, finally, in selecting a starting lineup. Collins John is back from his three game suspension, Miro Cabrilo is signed, Jose Angulo appears to be more-or-less recovered from injury, and we haven’t heard of any other Houston plays taking a trip back to their parent club. Furthermore, a couple players that had gotten off to less-than-stellar starts, appear to be rounding into form and could provide the stability that has been desperately lacking.

Interestingly enough, the one place that appears to have a sense of stability is between the sticks. Michael Lisch appears to have earned the starting job, following Hunter Gilstrap’s injury in the season opener and Greg Blum’s disappointing performances in the two games that followed. By all accounts, Gilstrap is match-fit, but may have to be content being the primary backup, as Lisch continues to get his name listed on top of the lineups.

Three points wouldn’t be nice, today, they are mandatory. Every game we’ve thought that it would signal the turnaround, and it hasn’t. Less than three points from a three game homestand would have to considered unacceptable, by anyone’s standards. I hope everyone’s vocal chords are mostly recovered from Wednesday, as they’ll be needed again, tonight.

TAILGATE

4PM – West Lot

We’re back to our normal spot for this weekend fixture. Steel Army (improved) brew will be on tap, and there should be some of the finest meats ready to be consumed, as well.

In addition, $11 has carried over on both the first and last goal, so a little added value to your $1 tickets. Also, the final shipment of scarves are here, and are available for pickup. If you purchased a membership and haven’t picked it up, no reason to wait. Also, if you were waiting to purchase until we had more in stock, there is no need to wait. If we sell out, we’ll be at 100 members and we’ll cap our membership, at that point.

Now, let’s go poach some ivory…
