How We'd Like To See Today's Games Play Out

With the beloved’s 5-2 victory in Sandy, Utah, last night, the playoffs have gotten just a little bit closer to being within reach. However, when you’ve sucked as hard and as long as the team did to begin the season, you’re going to need a little help from the rest of the league to clear a path to the top eight.  With that in mind, let’s take a look at today’s five USLPRO games and see what results would be most favorable to the Hounds. If some sort of with doctor or gypsy owes you a favor, today wouldn’t be a bad day to call in that marker.

Wilmington Hammerheads (26 pts / 6th place)

at

Charlotte Convicts Eagles (21pts/10th place)

Realistically, we shouldn’t set our goals any higher than just making the playoffs. Anything above 8th place would be gravy, and gravy is a luxury.  Knowing that, it would be awesome if Wilmington, despite playing last night, could take all the points. Even a tie isn’t terrible, but Charlotte needs to forget about any ideas of winning this thing.

Oklahoma City Energy (23pts/8th place)

at

Dayton Dutch Lions (17pts/14th place)

OKC is currently setting the playoff mark, so any points that they fail to get can only help the cause. Even though Dayton is in this battle with us, it’s easier to deal with a more congested bottom of the table than having the goal line get pushed further and further from you. LET’S GO DAYTON!

Harrisburg City Islanders (21pts/11th place)

at

Richmond Kickers (39pts/2nd place)

Clearly, Richmond just needs to take care of business at home and put Pittsburgh in line to leap past Harrisburg on Sunday.

Arizona United (21pts/9th place)

at

Charleston Battery (18pts/13th place)

Assuming that an invasions of locust isn’t a viable option, the best thing would be for Arizona not to win. A draw is probably better than a Battery win, but Arizona can’t take all three points. That could hurt.

La Galaxy II (34pts/3rd place)

at

Orange County Blues (24pts/7th place)

We’ll be fighting with Orange County for one of those final playoff spots, Los Dos are too far ahead to matter. Baby Galaxy all the way.

If everything comes up Milhouse today, and Niko and the boys can pull off the mild upset, tomorrow night, the Hounds will be level with Oklahoma City, 8th place, on points. Then there’s that little issue of goal differential, which makes yesterday’s three goal victory a bigger deal in more ways than one.
