We hope everyone is excited as we our for our First Annual Steel Army Open! We are ready to go over some specifics and reminders so everyone can have an enjoyable afternoon (and evening?) on October 4.
We have decided the tournament will run with an individual stroke play format, as you would see in a majority of tournaments. We decided on this format because we felt there wouldn’t be an equitable way to divide up into teams from people who have not expressed interest in playing with specific partners. Furthermore, without knowing how many people will be showing up without having pre-registered, we wanted to cut down on as much day-of confusion as possible.
If there are co-leaders after 18 holes, there will be as many 1-hole playoff rounds as needed to determine a winner.
We are looking at having groups go out as foursomes, with a shotgun start.
Please have playing partner(s) requests in by the end of this week. We will contact people who have requested to play with certain other people to confirm who they want to play with. We will be finalizing the pairings next week with people who haven’t been pre-registered put into groups to complete foursomes or those people will compose new pairings made the day of the event.
Please bring cash to cover registration fees ($20 members/$25 non-members). If you and your partner(s) wish (not required) to rent a golf cart, you will rent that from the course. $10 per cart ($5 per person assuming you share).
We are purchasing a keg for the event. No outside drinks are permitted. We are allowed to bring food and will have a pavilion area in which to base our operations out of. If enough people want to bring food we can start to coordinate that this week. There is also food available for purchase at the clubhouse.
Please remember to bring, a size 5 (adult regulation) soccer ball (or you can rent one from the course) and something to use as a ball marker (coin, casino chip, Ritz cracker)
Please remember that soccer boots/cleats are not permitted. Tennis shoes or indoor soccer shoes only.
We will have an award for the tournament champion, our best-dressed footgolfer, and an award for anyone who sinks a hole-in-one.
General playing rules will be discussed just before we start on the 4th.
