Why We AGM

2015 Steel Army Annual General Meeting

Sunday, February 22, 3PM

Highmark Stadium

As we get ready for the Annual General Meeting, let’s start off by trying to answer the question’ “Why do yinz have an AGM?”

As best as I can come up with, there are four main reasons why the Annual General Meeting is a thing. They are;

1. We’re required by our own bylaws. A lot of people may not know that last year we sold out and turned the Steel Army in a proper limited liability entity. This was done mainly to protect any individual in case things took a turn for the worse. With all of that came formalized group bylaws. The AGM is a required forum that allows the membership an opportunity to address the board and membership at large with issues being put on the record.

2. We’re rather handle our business in a non-game day setting. Simply put, game days are busy enough with all the good times taking place to have to devote too much time to something else. Game days are to be cherished and respected.

3. A lot of us haven’t seem each other in a couple of months. The AGM is a great opportunity to catch up with the friends you haven’t seen since early October. It also allows any fresh faces to opportunity to meet a lot of the group and find out what we’re all about before the season kicks off a month later.

4. We need your ideas and input. If everything just came from the same handful of people, then we wouldn’t be reaching our full potential. We’ve worked on a few things over the past couple of months, but there is probably a better idea out there. The AGM is a great chance to get those chants, tifo suggestions, and other ideas out there before we get into the season and we start executing these ideas.

We really hope everyone can carve out a couple of hours on Sunday and be a part of the kick off to our 2015 season!
