The Riverhounds return home after last weekend’s draw in front of a loud and hostile crowd in Saint Louis. That was a city and fan base that had waited years for professional soccer to come back to them, and they let everyone know. Even with the Hounds conceding first, they held their composure and fought back for the one-all draw. Now, it’s time for the team to ramp things back up at home as they host another (quasi) expansion side in Louisville City.

Besides getting everyone into true match fitness for the style of play Mark Steffens is using, the biggest obstacle that the team needs to overcome is the 15-20 lull that strikes the side somewhere during the game. the team has come out focused and prepared every game, but then lose the script for a stretch of time, only to them refocus and close out a game strong. The problem has been that goals have been allowed during that down period. This team has not yet given a full 90 minute performance and has suffered for it. When we see this team really start to click, we may seem something special.

For Louisville, the team last played on Thursday night, a home draw against Rochester. Hopefully, the relative (but nothing like previous USL seasons) turnaround will provide an opportunity for which the Hounds to take advantage.

Lou City has yet to concede more than a single goal in any of their three contests, but have also failed to fill their opposing net up, with four goal scored in the young season.

TAILGATE

We kick things off today at noon o’clock in advance of the 3pm start. Hopefully the Pitt folks didn’t mess things up too badly from yesterday.

As a reminder, at the tailgate you can sign up for our upcoming Steel Army Open, members can register for the bus trip to Rochester, as well as all the normal Steel Army offerings.

Today is going to be great day. The weather will hold off until after the game and the boys are going to put it all out there. With three points today, the Riverhounds will tell the league that they plan on being a factor in the East. We need to do our part to make that happen.
