We at the Steel Army are optimists. Having had a losing team for several seasons, we latch on to anything positive we can.
Not sure if this is a positive or a negative. Regardless, it is interesting.
Guess what team had 40% of the players in the top 8 in fouls:
There are several plausible explanations for this:
- The Hounds spent a good majority of last season in their own end, playing defense. The more time the other team spends in your end, the more likely you are to commit fouls.
- The Hounds tended to play more defensively-minded last season, which again lends itself to more fouls being committed.
- USL-PRO refs are scum.
The Hounds had a ton of PK’s given to opposing teams last season, which seems to line up with these stats.
Interpret these stats however you would like.
Not trying to start a conspiracy theory (USL-PRO refs do suck), but the boys need to give up less free kicks this season.
