RECAP: They Got Lucky, Hounds Lose 2-1

By @SAdyson

The Islanders went Three Mile Island along the Mon Bike Path last night and scored two late-game goals to spoil the party in Pittsburgh as the Hounds lost their home opener to the Harrisburg City Islanders.

Every point is important this season if the Hounds are looking to make a big playoff push

PRE-GAME

The Steel Army took over the east lot behind Saddle Ridge in Station Square. Huge showing by the Army, as members old and new played endless cornhole and beer pong while feasting on delicious nums.

On the march to The Highmark, the Army even shut down traffic in the middle of Station Square, singing and chanting. We might even be on WPXI.

FIRST HALF

The Hounds controlled possession and had several good chances throughout the entire half.

Hunter made some unreal saves.

Some dude from Harrisburg D got injured and had to come off.

SECOND HALF

The Hounds continued to knock on the Islanders’ door.

Finally, Jose Angulo puts a header in the back of the net that was crossed by Matty Dallman.

Everything looked good, until the Islanders came back with 2 quick goals to respond, including one in the 90′ by Lucky Mkosana.

This loss hurt.

NOTES:

  • Great turnout for the Steel Army. Everyone had a great time, and it was great to see so many new faces.
  • The Hounds looked like they were shell-shocked from the emotion of scoring that first goal in The Highmark. They held back a little after that first goal, and it showed in the result.
  • Huge goal by Angula, and great pickup by the Hounds. He has MLS experience with the New York Red Bulls, and has a ton of talent. Can’t wait to see him get more playing time.

You can’t win ’em all. Can’t wait for the Harrisburg road trip…
