Game 7 Recap: Hounds Take Care of Business

sa-yyeeaahh

It was the Cincinnati game all over again, only this time the Hounds were the ones up a man for the second half and ultimately got the job done with a win. Points against Harrisburg in all the various competitions and cups always feels good. The weight of the last few lackluster outings has been lifted. The supporters are happy again.

Saturday was a good overall team performance by the Hounds. Sitting here a day later I’m having a tough time thinking of any one person who stood out above the rest. The offense was aggressive and had some great chances. I would’ve liked to see some more of Kerr’s and Hertzog’s shots in the back of the net, but with getting that W I can forgive them. For the most part the defense continued to look better and kept Harrisburg from being a threat. There were some times in the second where Harrisburg looked better a man down then they did at even strength. Ultimately nothing came of it, but against a better foe mental lapses like that could prove costly. Even with that hiccup the back line and Mitchell had a good evening and posted the first clean sheet of the year.

Good to see Okai return after dealing with an injury for a while. Speaking of injury sadly Balchan had to be subbed off early with what looked to be a non-contact lower leg injury. The vengeful injury ghost is still haunting the team. The Hounds may be without Balchan for a while if his Twitter account is to be believe. Even if he’s not I wouldn’t expect to see him play on Wednesday night.

Not a whole lot to say other than the boys took care of business, as they should, and are heading in the right direction in the standings. The Hounds currently sit 9th but are only 5 points out of first. The next two matches are against the 13th and 14th place teams. Bad teams, winnable games. If they continue to be focused and come away with a pair of wins, things are going to be looking really good come this time next week.

Up Next

It’s a short week as the Hounds take on lowly Toronto FC II on Wednesday night. Lowly is probably too kind, shitty is more like it. They’ve only scored twice this season and are on a three game scoreless draw streak. It better be an easy three points. Wednesday night home game. Kick off is at 7 pm. Tailgate starts whenever you get off work.
